Thanks to the support of generous donors we exceeded our May goal of $6000 to Sponsor 150 kids and families!

We were excited to have exceeded our goal by $2000
bringing HBCA driven donations to $8000

Big thanks from REEL GUPPY OUTDOORS:

WE raised over $18,000 at annual fundraiser. Our May Surf and Turf Gala, was a huge success. We sold out the room with 7 of the 11 tables being purchased. The big kicker was HBCA’s efforts across the area that raised over $8,000 that will cover 200 kids catching memories. Their goal was 150 kids.
Incredible multi-community collaborations to make this a fun and successful event. We gave out 2 awards for standout volunteer and Guppy. From everyone at Reel Guppy’s we want you to know we appreciate your support. Personally from me, Community Kevin, to let you know it means the world to me, with all the work that
goes in, this makes it worth it.
Thank You All Who Donated and helped make this such a community success.

And then something truly amazing happened!

And more thanks from REEL GUPPY OUTDOORS:

“The HBCA, ( Harbor Beach Community Alliance) table was rockin’. From the bottom of my heart, I want to personally thank the work and advocacy they did. Everything from collecting baskets for silent auction, 200 scholarships, sending mailers and going before crowds and speaking about us. Even leading to a $25,000 angel donor, stay tuned…
Total of over $33,000 for Reel Guppy Outdoors!

Shari with Large Mouth Bass

THANK YOU SHARI!

“You wanna hear an incredible story.
HBCA was doing community awareness in front of local groups. Shari, pictured with Bass, was on a video at 1 of them. She reached out the day after, interested in possible donation in her husbands honor. Nil’s was an avid outdoorsman and angler. After a couple visits and attending our fundraiser, Shari made a $25,000 donation. We both had tears going over helping our wish list for the Guppy’s. There will be a memorial in his honor with these 2 Large Mouth Bass mounted. Shari caught a 10+ pounder and Nil’s had to go and catch a 11+ pounder. You’ll see it in the learning center.”

HBCA is a proud sponsor of the 2024 Summer Fundraiser for
REEL GUPPY OUTDOORS!

We are asking our neighbors and friends to help sponsor at least 1 child and family to the Reel Guppy Outdoors program this summer.  This non-profit organization is located at Channel Islands Harbor. They teach kids and their families to fish together and appreciate and protect our coastal resources.

The program is open and FREE to ALL KIDS and all needed equipment is provided for free.  It only takes $40 to sponsor 1 child.  The goal for our community is to sponsor 125 kids this summer.  To do this, we need your support.

What does Reel Guppy Outdoors do?

“We take kids and families fishing for FREE”

https://www.reelguppyoutdoors.com/

The Reel Guppy Outdoors’ program instills an appreciation for natural coastal resources and spawns the next generation of sportfishing and outdoor enthusiasts.

The program provides a positive environment for youth using outdoor experiences that help educate, teach leadership, stewardship, teamwork, and life building lessons.

Participating youth experience everything hands-on and are constantly engaged no matter how the fish are biting that day.  Parents are equipped with fishing know-how too.  This helps them to confidently take their family to “catch a memory” together outside of the fishing trips Reel Guppy coordinates and supervises.  All needed equipment is provided for free.

Who are guppies? Some are first-time fishers, some are foster youth, some had parents join and participate with them, some were shy, some are socially challenged, and some live with behavioral disorders.  But all their faces light up when they land their catches, practice tying knots properly, learn about the marine ecosystem and conservation, and more.

This is why many coastal and industry businesses as well as family-focused organizations partner and endorse the Reel Guppy Outdoors non-profit organization.  To list a few:

  • The International Game and Fish Association
  • Sport Fish Restoration
  • NOAA
  • Coastal Conservation Association
  • The Port of Hueneme
  • California Fish and Wildlife
  • Recreational Boating & Fishing Organization
  • United Parents
  • Girls Scouts
  • Boy Scouts of America
